Focusing On Our Future.

I’m currently serving on the Logan City Council and would love to hear from you! Please reach out to me at mike.johnson@loganutah.org.

My Focus

  • Attainable Housing

On the council, I will help Logan’s housing become more attainable for every resident, from newlyweds to retirees. Housing affordability is a critical issue, and I will work to help stabilize housing prices while reducing urban sprawl so we can maintain the feel of our beautiful valley.

  • Enjoyable Spaces & Places

Logan is a beautiful place with wonderful outdoor recreation. I will work to protect and increase our parks, paths and community spaces. We can also encourage small business growth to offer us new places to gather as a community. We need places for every resident to engage, grow and connect with one another that are not price or skill prohibitive. I will accomplish these goals by adding new urban trail connections, micro-parks and preserving natural open areas.

  • Fiscal Responsibility

Taxes are an integral part of a functioning society, but we must be responsible with these funds. I will strive to keep a balanced budget, reduce unnecessary expenditures and ensure our government uses our money to improve the lives of our citizens without reaching into areas that are best served by the private sector.

  • Quality Job Opportunities

I will work to encourage small business growth, entrepreneurs, and job opportunities for employers and employees alike. America is built on the dream of income mobility and housing stability. We must keep these dreams alive. I will prioritize our local businesses, encourage development that provides space for local entrepreneurs and look for ways to increase well paying jobs in our valley.

  • Traffic & Infrastructure

Traffic is a major issue in our valley right now, and the future is only looking more congested. We need a multidirectional approach to address our infrastructure issues. When elected, I will prioritize working on traffic congestion through avenues including but not limited to; a true western bypass, an integrated traffic and active transport plan, and utilizing our arterial roads to move traffic out of our neighborhoods efficiently.

  • Long Term Vision

Logan is projected to continue to experience a high growth rate, with most of that growth being internal. We have created a beautiful city that we must strive to maintain. We need to keep a long term view when building our roads, housing and businesses. Sometimes the easiest solution isn't the best. We must consider what we will be handing off to our children. As a community, we can ensure that we have a quality, well-planned city. I will always focus on the future to ensure we're building a city worth being proud of for generations.

My Promises To You:

  • Prioritize Logan’s Future

  • Be Responsible With Our Tax Dollars

  • Work For Smart Growth

  • Listen To All Our Citizens, Yes Even You!

  • Promote Government Transparency

  • Act With Honesty

I’m a small business owner, husband, father and avid fan of our local outdoor recreation sports. My wife, Jessie, and I both attended USU and have lived in Logan for over 12 years. I work full time running my commercial photo and video company, and I love having the opportunity to meet and work with so many different businesses and individuals across our valley. In my spare time, I enjoy running, backpacking, rock climbing, skiing or just playing in our backyard with our son Jack.
